Updated: Sep 24

On Tuesday, September 16th, 2025, nearly two dozen community organizations received grants from the Wimberley Lions Club totaling $50,000.

“Our grants committee selected 23 winners from more than 40 non-profits,” said grants committee chair and first vice-president Hilda Carpenter. “We wish we had the money to award checks to all worthy applicants.”

Organizations receiving checks were: Amigos de Jesus, Barnabas Connection, Crisis Bread Basket, Freedom Canines, Friends of the Library, Habitat for Humanity, Hays County Early Childhood Intervention, Hill Country Community Band, Hill Country Women’s Health Collective, ME2U (Mini Equine 2 U), Combined Community Action Meals on Wheels, Leo Omega Medical Explorers, PALS (Prevent a Litter), PAWS, Schoolyard Dogs, Sea Scouts, WHS Band Boosters, Wimberley Valley Chorus, Wimberley Adoption Group & Rescue (WAG), Wimberley EMS, Wimberley Senior Citizens Activities, Wimberley Valley Radio, and the Wimberley Valley Rangers.

Each year the Lions fund grants and scholarships from Market Day earnings. Market Days is a monthly non-profit event that generates money from its 400-plus vendors, 10 concessions, and parking donations.

“Congratulations to these organizations who serve our community,” Lions president Mindy Curnutt said. “The grant applications for 2026 become available April 15, 2026. We encourage non-profits to apply. Thank you to all those who volunteer and visit Market Days. Without local support we couldn’t give back to the community.”
