Wimberley Lions Club Plays in Texas Lions Camp Golf Tournament

August 1st logged another Texas Lions Camp annual golf tournament to support the camp's operations. The event now raises $150,000 annually and has produced more than $2 million cumulatively over the past 30 years. This year, James Avery Artisan Jewelry sponsored the tournament. They issued a $50,000 challenge-matching grant to help the Texas Lions Camp mission.

Taking advantage of the Avery $50,000 challenge match, the Wimberley Lions Club President Doug McLean presented a $15,000 check to Texas Lions Camp CEO Stephen Mabry. "We earmark donated tips at Market Days for the camp and other community projects. The community and visitors' support helps our club meet our mission: "We Serve," stated McLean.

Wimberley Lions: Past President Ron Steel, John Hull, Glenn Fessler, Jack Conroe, and Vic Willoughby were only a few of the golfers who enjoyed the 18-hole golf course at Lady Bird Johnson Golf Course in Fredericksburg, Texas. "Seeing so many supporters of the [Texas Lions] Camp was incredible. The range of people's playing skills makes this tournament fun and successful every year. I highly recommend anyone wanting to play golf on a beautiful course to register early and come with us next year," stated Ron Steel, Wimberley Lions Club Past President (2019-2020).

The Texas Lions Camp currently serves as a place of free education and respite for thousands of children with Down's syndrome, diabetes, cancer, or disabilities. For more information, see https://www.lionscamp.com. Attendance does not depend on being a member of a Lions Club. Wimberley Lions invites anyone interested in becoming a Lion to fill out the application: https://www.wimberleylions.com/support-us. We would love to have you.
